Family Session at Agua Caliente Park ~ 11.08.08

Yesterday I had a fun family session out at Agua Caliente Park. Jen is a friend of mine from my days at Savannah and Nick's elementary school. I've known their oldest son since he was in kindergarten. Last fall they had another baby and he is as cute as a button. He was so enthralled with everything at the park, especially those ducks! His big brother gave me his very best smiles all day. Grandma and Grandpa came along to help and we got some lovely pictures of them with the boys. It was a really nice afternoon. Here are some of my favorite images so far.

Ashley and Bryan's Engagement Session ~ 10.26.08

Yesterday I spent the afternoon with one of my couples, Ashley and Bryan. They are getting married in December and we had decided to wait as late as we could to do their engagement session so the temperatures would cool down. We had temps in the low to mid 80's all last week and wouldn't you know it...come Sunday, we're back up to 90 degrees again. We started late enough in the day and brought plenty of water and there was also a bit of a breeze so things ended up being fine. They were very good sports as I dragged them all over the U of A campus for over two hours.

Ashley and Bryan met their freshman year in English class. They also lived in the same dorm on campus. One of the places they wanted to do some photos was at their old dorm (see image with the big palm tree). This was an area where they used to hang out and talk so we decided it was a perfect spot for some pictures. As I started snapping away I noticed there was a foot hanging out one of the windows on the left side of my shot! We got a big kick out of this foot...no doubt attached to a student probably studying or listening to his/her iPod and very unaware an engagement session was taking place outside the window.

Ashley and Bryan ~ I had a lot of fun hanging out with you yesterday and getting to know you better. I am very excited about your wedding and am looking forward to meeting your families and making more beautiful pictures together.

Micki and Carl's Wedding ~ 10.18.08

This past weekend it was my pleasure to photograph Micki and Carl's wedding. I met with them for the first time last spring and liked them immediately. We did their e-session at the beginning of June and had so much fun together. They brought their Golden Retriever, Charlie, to our session and their nephew C.J. came along as well. It was the first Tucson summer day over 100
degrees and they were all such troopers, hanging out with me for two hours and lots of photos.

Fast forward to October. Micki and Carl invited John and I to their rehearsal dinner which we were unfortunately unable to attend because our son wasn't feeling well. We did attend the rehearsal at the hotel and as soon as we arrived, Micki walked us around and introduced us to all of their family and friends. Everyone was so warm and nice and we immediately felt like we were part of the group!
On Saturday, John went up to Micki and Carl's house to hang out with the guys and shoot their "getting ready" photos while I went to the hotel to meet up with Micki and the rest of the ladies. When I arrived, everyone was getting beautiful. Micki and I hung her dress up so I could get some photographs and the little girls were just amazed at how beautiful it was. These little girls were all in the wedding and it was so apparent to me that they all just adore Micki. And she obviously feels the same about all of them and showered them with lots of love. I really enjoyed my time with all of them.

John was having as much fun with Carl and the rest of the guys. When I called to touch base with him, he happily reported that they had a football game on. He did manage to get them all (except for Chris, who had to run Micki's bouquet down to us) outside for some fabulous photos in front of a beautiful, gigantic saguaro cactus in the yard. What a handsome bunch!

The ceremony was beautiful. You could feel the love and good wishes that all of their friends and family were sending their way. I saw smiles all over the room. Watching Micki and Carl, I could see the love they have for each other in their eyes and on their faces. Everyone had a fantastic time at their reception. Delicious food, wonderful toasts and lots of laughter. Oh, and I can't forget the dancing...these people LOVE to dance!

It really was a wonderful day and I think I captured the spirit of the day in the pictures. Here are some of my favorites so far...I'm busy editing and will get the slide show up sometime this weekend and the rest online next week. In the meantime, enjoy the ones I've posted here.

Congratulations Micki and Carl...I mean, Mr. and Mrs. Taylor! It was a wonderful wedding and John and I hope you have many years of love and happiness together!
